ST.PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota House voted 150-20 for a school funding bill that hikes per-pupil aid over the next two years. The bill now goes to the Senate. Overall spending in the House version is $7.6 billion next school year, then $7.8 billion the year after. State Representative Gene Pelowski, D-Winona, said gave this breakdown for Winona County public schools:
> Winona: Up $260 for Fiscal 2022; $410 for Fiscal 2023.
> Lewiston-Altura: $203, 2022; $365, 2023.
Pelowski said the revised funding formula will help schools bounce back from pandemic hardships. He noted that the bill is the largest investment in the state public school system in 15 years.
