WINONA, Minn. – The Winona-Rochester Catholic bishop, John Quinn, called for March 2, Ash Wednesday, to be a day of fasting for peace in Ukraine. “As we begin the solemn season of Lent, please beg the Prince of Peace to spare us from violence, in particular, for the people of the Ukraine,” Quinn said. At the Vatican, Pope Francis called for an end to the “diabolical senselessness of violence” and for prayer to protect the world from the folly of war.”
