FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Great Minnesota Get-Together, otherwise known as the State Fair, didn’t have such a great start. First-day attendance was 61,983 — less than half of the 2019 record of a 133,000. Perhaps it was the thunderstorms. Perhaps it was widespread supply-chain shortages. Perhaps concern over the spiking Covid Delta mutation? Perhaps fair-goers have lost enthusiasm for crowds after the Covid pandemic-forced cancellation of the 2020 fair. Whatever, 59 vendors quit.
