MINNEAPOLIS – The giant retailer Target, anticipating a continuing tight labor market through the holidays, plans to hire fewer seasonal workers this year. Instead Target will offer more hours to current employees. Usually the Minneapolis-based retailer brings in 130,000 seasonal workers in November and December but this year is looking to hire only 100,000. The difficulty in finding help has not be solved by Target’s signing bonus initiative and no longer requiring a high school diploma.
