TAYLOR, Wis. – A convicted felon man who shot at a deputy late Thursday was captured near the end of Taylor Road 3-1/2 miles east of town. Gary G. Hughes, 74, was taken into custody about 1:55 p.m. without incident, Sheriff Duane Waldera said. The capture was at the Aaron Boe property at 15131 Taylor Road, where Hughes had been spotted earlier. Hughes was taken to a hospital to be checked out. He had been hiding in the woods with freezing overnight temperatures. Police had combed the area on foot and from the air. The Boe place is 30 acres less than a mile through heavy pines and across Pine Creek from the Kelly Road address where Hughes first was holed up.
