ROCHESTER, Minn. – The inflatable bubble that encloses fall and winter sports at Rochester Tech has been inflated – albeit grimy from never being packed up last season. Thanks to the coronavirus, the company that usually deflates the bubble and then dispatches 60 employees to pack it up was too short-handed to get the whole job done. So the bubble just lay crumpled on the ground all spring and summer. Whether even to put it up again was in doubt, but the decision was made in mid-September to give it a try sand see. The question now: Will rain and snow wash away the crusted mud and grime? Another question: Will the pandemic have eased sufficiently for enough crew to be assigned to deflate the bubble and pack it up this spring?

Tech bubble. Not the shiny landmark of yore at U.S. Highway 14 and State 22.
