WINONA, Minn. – The tiny Toyota Prius sedan has become a hot item. Police have reports of a string of thefts of catalytic converters from 2007 to 2009 Prius models. Converters are an exhaust emission control device that contain the metal palladium, which sells for $2,200 an ounce. Chief Deputy Jay Rasmussen reported five reports of converter thefts the last three nights. Four were from Priuses and one from a motorhome.
