ROCHSTER, Minn. – Two police incidents, both involving police pursuits, have sent a Rochester man to prison. Langston Mercedes, 24, was sentenced to 45 months. Mercedes had pleaded guilty to assault and fleeing police. This was for an incident in June when he shot a man in the leg during the man’s birthday party. Earlier, in May, a deputy clocked Mercedes driving a vehicle at more than 100 miles per hour on Highway 52 just north of Rochester. Mercedes nearly smashed into another vehicle after he failed to yield at an intersection. He was eventually captured at a woman-friend’s apartment.
