WINONA, Minn. – A severe weather from the southwest swept through southeast Minnesota into Wisconsin Monday evenng. Dime-sized hail at the intersection of Interstate 90 and Highway 43 in Wilson eight miles south of Winona. Power was knocked out two hours in a rural area between Stockton and Lewiston. Other damage from overnight reports:

Boscobel, Wis.: A tree that fell on a power line and started a fire.

> Chimney Rock, Wis.: A tornado took a pole shed and caused minor damage to a home on County Road D about 6 p.m.

> Fountain City, Wis.: Quarter-inch hail pellets.

> French Island, Wis.: A 58-mph hour gust at the LaCrosse airport.

> Hillsboro, Wis.: A tornado touched down in a rural area.

> Houston, Minn.: Lightning set a house on fire.   

> Independence, Wis.: A funnel touched down near Independence just after 6 p.m.  Winds at 70 mph destroyed a pole barn, damaged a residence, and knocked over a semi-truck on Highway 93 and County Highway VV, closing 93 for an hour.

Viola, Wis.: A roof was blown off a shed.
