ALBERT LEA, Minn. – An Iowa-bound freight train ran over a 16-year-old youth whom the crew said was lying on the tracks at a downtown crossing. The youth was killed. The Union Pacific crew said it braked hard but couldn’t stop in time. This was about 11:30 p.m. at Garfield Avenue and Ramsey Street. The youth’s name was not released immediately. Police said there was no reason to suspect foul play.
