RUSHFORD, Minn. — Utilities including MiEnergy asked customers to cut back their power usage through 6 p.m. because of the heat wave. Utilities face higher charges from electricity wholesalers when usage enters a peak mode. The surcharges eventually are passed on to customers. The message: Keep electricity rates stable and affordable by shifting electricity after 6 o’clock.
