ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz is furious that CoVid vaccine promised to the state for local distribution is somehow being held up by the federal government. The Trump administration had pledged 20 million doses to states by December 31, but by the administration’s own claims only 11.4 million dosses were shipped. Under pressure to explain the discrepancy, the U.S. Health and Human Services Administration announced that the agency was holding back a reserve of vaccine. Why so? Walz responded that it was “unimaginable” that states had been lied to. Even then, it seemed that millions of doses were unaccounted for. The governor tweeted: “This is appalling. Minnesotans are sick of false promises from the Trump Administration. After promising a surge of doses, the Administration is now pulling out the rug from under our seniors, teachers and every Minnesotan eagerly awaiting the vaccine.” Minnesota had been promised more than 624,000 vaccine doses, of which only 404,000 have been received by providers in the state.
