BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. – Some high school sports may be able to resume in August but probably not all, the executive director of the Minnesota State High School League said. Speaking to school and league administrators, Erich Martens cited state Health Department guidelines that define sports by risk for CIVID-19ntransmission. Low-risk sports that have the best chance of resuming include cross-country running, singles tennis, individual swimming and diving, and clay target shooting. Volleyball, soccer, doubles tennis and swimming relays are medium risk and football is high risk. School districts and leagues are expected to draft scenarios in late July, with districts then making final decisions coming later, Martens said.
