Spice Lake fire corraled near Canada border
GRAND MARAIS, Minn. — About 80 wilderness campsites in the Boundary Waters reserve have been closed because of wildfires and tinder-dry conditions. The Spice Lake Wildfire near the end of the Gunflint Trail started Tuesday and spread to 30 acres. The fire was reduced to 20 acres by Friday. Because conditions can change quickly paddling and overnight camping remained prohibited in specified areas.
