WINONA, Minn. – Tornadoes were. sighted or touched down as powerful winds and rain tore through the region overnight. This is the latest summary from the National Weather Service, following the storm east-northeast :
> Rudd, Iowa: An EF1 tornado touched down about 20 miles east of Mason City.
> Hartland, Minnesota: An EF0 tornado caused ground damage in the Hart area eight miles miles north of Albert Lea. Several buildings wre destroyed, the town bank damaged. This was the first tornado ever recorded in Minnesota in any December in history.
> Eyota, Minnesota. A barn was flattened southeast of Rochester in the Marion area. Whether it was because of a tornado o or straight-line winds was uncertain
> Wyattville, Minnesota. An EF-0 funnel peaking at 85 mph cut a 40-yard path over half a mile and damaged trees, a garage and outbuildings along County Road 25 between Stockton and Wyattville.
> Neillsville, Wisconsin: An EF2 tornado north of Neillsville.
> Stanley, Wisconsin: There was ground damage from an EF2 tornado 2 miles east of Chippewa Falls..
A 77-mph gust hit the Rochester airport, the National Weather Service said. It was second only to a 1984 gust at the airport in 1984.
