WINONA, Minn. – The local founders of Hiawatha Broadband Communications back in 1997 have cashed out as millionaires. They sold the company, now known as HBC, to Indiana-based Schurz Communications. Terms were not announced. Schurz said it will keep the local management team. Schurz already owns three broadband companies with 75,000 subsribers and publishes 11 daily newspapers in medium and small markets with a total circulation of 129,000. The company’s properties are in Arizona, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and South Dakota.
