WINONA Minn. –A sheriff’s bust netted $37,000 in drugs — a warehouse of pharmaceuticals albeit illegal — at a rental house across from the Amtrak depot on West Mark Street. It was a major break in an ongoing regional drug investigation, said Jeffery Mueller, the Winona County chief sheriff’s deputy. Arrested was Peter Raymond Smith, 42, of Winona. . Confiscated were 96 grams of fentanyl, 10 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 172 grams of cocaine, 11 grams of heroin, 30 ecstacy pills and 720 grams of a suspicious powder, Mueller said. White was referred to the county prosecutor for likely charges of for first-degree drug possession and first-degree drug sales. The arrest was about 2 p.m.
