WINONA Minn. — The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative domino-effect on local tourism, according to Winona convention and tourism promoter Pat Mutter. On a radio KWNO talk show, Mutter said that cancelled graduations, homecoming, and music and arts festivals have hurt hotels and restaurants. Although tourism is down, she said, there has been a slight uptick with local people sticking closer to home. People take trips that are only a “tank of gas away,” she said. The Visit Winona office is getting more calls from community members about area trails and museums, Mutter said.
