CHARLOTTE, N.C. –Rochester Community and Technical College baseball player Drew Simmons was named the 500-school National Junior College Athletic Association’s pitcher of the week. Summons got the Yellowjackets season off to a3-0-1 start. The Stewartville native allowed just six hits and one earned run for a 1.13 ERA in the opening games. He retired six batters and walked one. Coach Clark Jones called Simmons amazing. “He was at 88% overall strike percentage and he was at 100 percent in first-pitch strike percentage and that’s ungodly – that’s amazing,” Jones said. “Big leaguers don’t have those numbers.”
