ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester man was sent to prison for 10 years for stalking and beating a former woman-friend with whom he had lived but was under a court order to back off. Karlwin Richards, 31, had been convicted by a jury in March. He was charged with 21 counts: Domestic assault, stalking, and violating no-contact orders. The arrest was in November when a neighbor called police. They found the woman with two black, swollen eyes, bruised all over her face, and with multiple lumps on her forehead. Police also reported a boot mark on her upper arm and bruising on other parts of her body. A security camera video showed Richard throwing the victim to the ground and punching her.
