EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The judge was unequivocal in sentencing Roger Minck to 12 years in prison for the 2019 death of a Gilmanton man. Judge John Manydeeds lectured Minck: “No one needs to be told it’s wrong to traffic drugs. No one needs to be told it’s wrong to hide a body and lie to the victim’s family when they’re asking about his whereabouts.” According to an autopsy, Toby Cleasby of Gilmanton died of a drug overdose. He Cleasby had gone to Minck’s house in Eau Claire to buy drugs. Then he hid Cleasby’s body at his brother’s house. It was only after 31 days of extensive searches, including dragging the Chippewa River, that the body was found.
