ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 19-year-old Rochester man was sentenced to 17 years for second-degree murder – a crime that started as a $70 drug deal. Robert Bryant Salley Jr. had pleaded guilty. The murder was in January 2019. Police said that Salley had gotten into a vehicle with another man in a parking lot in the 800 block of 21st Avenue Southeast to buy some marijuana. In a struggle, the other man, Trevor Boysen, 24, was shot to death. Then, said police, Salley walked away and shot back at vehicle. Besides second-degree murder, Salley was sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm because of a previous conviction for a violent crime.
