ALBERT LEA, Minn. – A St. Paul mam was sentenced to 8-1/2 months in prison as the driver of a car that struck a tree and killed a passenger. Dominik Nikko Boots-Ringeon, 19, pleaded guilty in July to criminal vehicular homicide. Seven other charges were dismissed in a plea deal. James Joseph Amarosa III, 17, of Albert Lea, died in the August 2020 crash. One of the passengers, Shelby Luv Watkins, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting.  She had allowed Boots-Ringeon drive her vehicle despite knowing he had a drunken-driving conviction and did not have a valid driver license. Watkins was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
