WINONA, Minn. – Plans are firming up for the boutique hotel envisioned for the 120-year-old Exchange building downtown at Fourth and Center streets. Plans are to convert the building’s offices into 28 to 30 apartment units and suites, developer Peter Shortridge said in an interview with the Winona Post. “We’re not going to be operating as a classic hotel,” he said. “It’ll be operating as more of a hybrid apartment, Airbnb.” He pointed to the recently converted Celeste Hotel and Bar in St. Paul as a model. “We’re excited to do something a little similar here, but a little different, taking this building that was just a beautiful Exchange Building where business people used to meet and doing kind of a hybrid of apartments.”
