RED WING, Minn. – A Wisconsin driver was injured in a two-car collision on the State Highway 316 short-cut between Red Wing and Hastings. John William Makepeace, 53, of Holmen, was taken 14 miles to the Red Wing hospital with sustainable injuries. The other driver, Ellen Marie Benson, 74, of Wabasha, was unhurt. Police said Makepeace, in a 2018 Subaru Outback, and Benson, in a 2013 Chevy Equinox, were both north bound toward Hastings This was about 4:35 p.m. near the 230th Street East crossroad.
