PRESTON, Minn. — The woman who rear-ended an Amish buggy and injured three children and then drove off has been sentenced. Brittany Nicole Edgar, 33. ordered to 30 days in the Fillmore Cointy jail. She was told, also, to pay $20,600 in restitution to the Amish family — $13,600 for the carriage and $7,000 for the horse that was injureed and no longer can draw a buggy. Edgar also was placed hree years of supervised probation. The senyennce was passwd down by Fillmore County Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Edgar had pleaded guilty in November to criminal vehicular operation. Originally she faced six criminal charges but five were dropped in plea-bargaining. The hit-and-run accident hurt a man, woman, and seven children in the buggy. A 12-year-old suffered a concussion, a 3-year-old a broken arm, and a 1-year-old a skull fracture.
Remorse
Edgar told the judge: “From the bottom of my heart, I’m so sorry for what I did,” She said she had gone to the home of the Amish family and expressed regret. Judge Clinefelter commnded her for “the nice things.” The judge noted, however, that Edgar faces a raft of new charges last week involving drunken driving, faking a urine sample for alcohol testing, and defying police. Such behavior, he said. “needs to change.”

Edgar. Has lived in Spring Valley. Investigators found her damaged car at her house. She since moved two counties sway to Kasson.
