CALEDONIA, Minn. — A Hokah man who stabbed his father with scissors in May, in full view of a passing police officer, cannot claim mental incompetence to avoid prosecution, Judge Carmaine Sturino ruled. The judge scheduled trial for Nicholas McCabe, age 24, in October. The stabbing was outside the family business in Hokah. The father survived. Meanwhile, the son remains in the Houston County jail with bail at $500,000. The charges: Four counts including attempted murder and assault.
