ST. PAUL, Minn. – The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said that the Albert Lea police officer wounded in the standoff with an active shooter Friday was Kody Needham. His name wasn’t released earlier. Needham has been in law enforcement four years. He is on medical leave, recovering from a chest wound. He was among the first officers to arrive at the scene. A bullet-proof vest may have saved him.
