LEWISTON, Minn. — It looks to be a great day for the Fools Five Road Race on Saturday in the upper 60s, perhaps low 70s — if the rain holds back. Scattered showers are a possibility, forecasters say. The race, which has attracted hundreds of runners annually since 1979, begins at the Lewiston post office at 1 p.m. It’s a fundraiser for cancer research. A live-auction celebration the night before will have Gary Mills, former Lewiston track and cross-country coach, as guest speaker. Mills and high school athlete Dan Reinboldt came up with the idea of hosting a road race in the winter of 1978. Mills, who now is battling pancreatic cancer, will share his story.
