Local history buffs ready for visitors
RUSHSHFORD, Minn. — The Rushford Area Historical Society is reopening the Rushford train station with a celebration June 9. The Milwaukee Road’s last train from LaCrecent up the Root River to Rushford and on to South Dakota ran in 1980, but the winding river-level roadbed remains as a popular biking trail. The Rushford depot has undergone extensive restoration to keep railroad memories alive. Planned for the celebration on June 9, a Saturday, is street party with local restaurant specials, vendor booths, historic displays and, of course, depot tours.
