ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz said he’s sympathetic to critics of his executive order shutting down in-person dining and gyms and other places where data suggest that people are at high risk of catching of CIVID. Even so, he said, he believes his shutdowns are in the best interest of public health. Walz said he’s balancing the downside of financial shutdowns against the devastating numbers of death and illness in hospitals and long-term care facilitates. Walz said he’s focused on science. When data suggest that reopening is reasonably safe, he said he will pull back on his executive order. It’s a balance, he said, between public safety and dilatory economic impact. About lawsuits against his order, Walz said hewill accept court rulings.
