ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz announced that $12 million in state funds will go to feed hungry Minnesotans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “No Minnesotan should go to bed hungry or be forced to learn on an empty stomach,” Walz said. The funds will go to the state’s seven food banks for distribution to 300 food shelves. Since the beginning of the pandemic, about 300,000 Minnesotans have visited food shelves, a 30 percent increase, Walz said.
