MONROE, Wis.– Gov. Tony Evers’ personal assistant, Ben Belzer, 25, died while tubing on the Sugar River on the edge of the Driftless Region southwest of Madison.  Green County deputies responded to reports about 3:20 p.m. that a man tubing had gone under water and not resurfaced. The body was found in the stream. Belzer, a LaCrosse native, had been Evers’ assistant more than two years. Evers called Belzer “remarkably talented” and “thoughtful and mature beyond his years.”
