ROCHETER Minn. – The University of Minnesota Rochester plans to put 50 students through a pilot program called NXT GEN MED designed with Google and Mayo Clinic. The curriculum combines in-person and remote learning with an interactive dashboard to engage students. The pilot cohort will be this summer. Mayo Clinic, meanwhile, will work to match students with mentors and provide work placement opportunities. After two years students will earn an undergraduate degree in health sciences. This shortened path to a career in healthcare will help alleviate student debt, the university said.
