WINONA, Minn. – State Senator Jeremy Miller R-Winona, said that Senate Republicans are concerned over Governor Tim Walz’ budget proposal for rebuilding projects in Minneapolis and St. Paul. That component of the budget, Miller said, needs to be further examined. Republicans have resisted numerous Walz initiatives aimed at restoring riot-ravaged sections of the Twin Cities and for new security initiatives. Walz is a Democrat. Miller, who is president of the Republican-controled Senate, expressed his doubts in an interview on KWNO radio. On another issue, Miller was open to Walz’s proposal to spend $10 million to study rail service upgrades with along the Mississippi River for a second daily roundtrip train. A second train, he said, would improve connection times.
