ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz will lift most Minnesota Covid restrictions May 28 and the mask mandate July 1 if the state reaches a 70% vaccination threshold. Rollbacks begin sooner, he said. Capacity limits on outdoor dining events end Friday. So does a mandatory 11 p.m. closing time for bars and restaurants. Gatherings of 500 people, however, will still require masking. “Our path forward is pretty clear, Minnesota,” Walz said. “Now, the next three weeks really, it’s on you to get the vaccines. It’s on you to talk to your neighbors. It’s on you to talk to your doctors.” From all appearances, Walz said, the state has avoided a surge by the B-117 Covid variant.
