EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Three vehicles, including a State Patrol car, were destroyed in a rear-ending accident on Interstate 94 south of Eau Claire. The drivers all were injured and taken to an Eau Claire hospital. The crash closed both westbound lanes nearly four hours and one eastbound lane 45 minutes. A sheriff’s office source said a passing vehicle struck the rear of a State Patrol squad car, which had stopped another vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the squad car into the next vehicle. The trooper was inside her vehicle.
