WINONA, Minn. – The Minnesota Beethoven Festival opens an eight-event series at Saint Mary’s University with the Indiana-based Pacifica Quartet. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Page theater. The program:
> Prokofiev: Quarter No. 2, Opus 92.
> Fanny Mendelssohn: Quartet in E-flat major.
> Beethoven: Quartet, Opus 59, No. 3.
The quartet has been in residence at the Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music since 2012. The quartet’s Grammy awards include a four-CD set of the entire Shostakovich cycle, paired with other contemporary Soviet works. Admission: $25.
Pacifica Quartet. Known as an interpreter of string quartet cycles, portraying composer’s evolution, often over just a few days.
