WASHINGTON – The Empire Builder passenger train will resume daily service March 25 between Chicago and the Pacific Northwest, including stops in Winona, Sy. Paul, and the Pacific Northwest. The service had been reduced to thrice-weekly in September because of declining ridership, and staff shortages due to the Covid pandemic. Amtrak which provides long-distance U.S. trains, said federal relief funds made possible the restoration.
