MADISON, Wis. – A man from the Black River village of Melrose, Joshua T. Munn, 24, was charged in federal court for a role in the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Apparently Munn led a brigade of five family members through a window into the Capitol. The relatives, arrested separately in Texas: Kristi Munn, Thomas Munn, Dawn Munn and Kayli Munn, all of Borger, Texas. A judge ordered Munn back in U.S. District Court again July 21. The criminal complaint alleges that Munn knowingly entering the building and also three other counts, including disorderly conduct. The complaint quotes social media post by Munn that he didn’t really break into the Capitol because the windows were already broken. Oddly, the post also says. “We may have broken a few windows to get in.” In the complaint the FBI included images of Munn inside the Capitol. In all the FBI shows 42 social media photos or videos or surveillance video as evidence. Additionally, the FBI said, several posts, messages and cellphone images confirmed that Munn and his family were in the Capitol building on January 6, as well as cell phone location data that placed Munn at the Capitol that day.

Before Melrose he lived 20 miles away in Sparta, Wisconsin. His roots are in Texas. He attended Frank Phillips Community College, enrollment 500, in rural Borger, northeast of Amarillo. He liked guns. His social media posts include him holding a rifle, one with a baby. There also is a photo of what appears to be Munn and a little boy, both holding a rifle. Among shared social-media photos is a display of different kinds of firearms and their respective purposes. He shared a video of Donald Trump inviting “Duck Dynasty” stars Phil Robertson and Willie Robertson on stage to say a few words at his Keep America Great Again rally in Monroe, Louisiana.

Among Munn’s posts cited by the FBI: “So ya they don’t know shit and the cop look calm and happy outside of the capital but the one on the inside were trying to get us mad they would try using teargas shoot a couple of people with rubber bullets we weren’t over by that though.”
