AUSTIN, Minn. – The woman who was shot fatally over the weekend inside an Austin house has been identified as TyEsha Tahne Gills, 20, a hair dresser who had come to Austin a year ago. An aunt, Lanetta Griffin, said her niece had moved to Austin from Chicago to escape urban violence. Gills chose Austin “to better her life,” the ant told the Rochester Post-Bulletin. Griffin said her niece lived with her father when she came to Austin in August 2020, then later moved in with a cousin. Gills felt safer in Austin, the aunt said. She returned to Chicago some weekends to cut and style hair, Griffin said.
