EDINA, Minn. – The machinery of the Minnesota Republican Party allows two ways to remove the party chair, which is germane amid growing calls for Jennifer Carnahan to resign.

> Executive committee. The quickest is a two-thirds vote of the state executive committee. The 15-member committee meets Thursday evening at party headquarters in Edina. Carnahan herself called the special meeting for a “confidence” or “no confidence” vote on her leadership.

> Central committee. Signatures from 45 members of the oarty’s 300-member central committee could call a meeting to vtoe on whether Carnahan should stay or go. At the meeting, the majority rules.
