BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. – A Black River Falls man shot himself fatally during a traffic stop late Saturday, Sheriff Duane Waldera said. This, according to Waldera, is what happened:  A deputy stopped Robert R. Goodbear, 39, about 10 p.m. for driving without headlights, speeding, and missing a stop sign. This was on Low Cloud Road near the Ho-Chunk casino. The deputy returned to his squad car and called for back-up for a roadside sobriety test. Goodbear got out of his vehicle holding a gun. He turned his gun on himself while walking toward the deputy. The deputy began lifesaving measures. Goodbear died at the hospital.
