ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota troopers moved in on Native American demonstrators protesting Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 pipeline project at the state Capitol and made four arrests. The demonstration had begun Monday with about 1,000 people but had dwindled to a few camping on the Capitol lawn n teepees. State troopers with a megaphone advised the remaining protesters that their permit to demonstrate had expired, then moved in and hauled the last protesters to jail. At issue was an Enbridge pipeline being built across northern Minnesota. Tribes claim treaty rights to the safe environment is jeopardized by pipeline construction and inevitable oil spills.
