ARCADIA, Wis. – A fire and police procession Saturday will honor the memory of Jeffrey P. Halvorsen, 53, he Arcadia fire chief whose death remains under investigation in Sawyer County. The procession will be at 10 a.m. and end at the Wanek Center with a salute. The family has arranged visitation at 11. Halvorsen started his professional life as a Whitehall police officer for three years, then a city job in Arcadia for 10 years. In 1996 he joined Halvorsen Lumber, the family business. full-time. He was with the Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Department 31 years, 17 as chief. He belonged to the Arcadia Lions Club and the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce. He was current president of the Trempealeau County Fire Chiefs Association. He sat on the governing board of the State Firefighters Association.
