ISABELLA, Minn. – After three weeks the giant Greenwood Lake wildfire has been 80% contained, foresters said. Full containment isn’t expected until snow falls, but no new flames are showing. The parts of the perimeter that aren’t contained are in hard-to-access wetlands. Meanwhile, U.S. Forest Service officials have opened the entire 1 million-acre Superior National to normal access, albeit some roads damaged by heavy fire-fighting equipment and partially blocked fallen trees.
