BARRON, Wis. – A jury found a Rice Lake man guilty of shooting a Chetek man in bed on the belief that his estranged wife and the man were having an affair. Andrew Brunette was ordered held in jail pending sentencing hearing in January. The legal issues were not straight forward. The jury concluded that Brunette knew what he was doing at the time of the murder but, also, that he a had a mental disease at the time. Even so, the conviction was for first-degree murder. Indeed, Brunette admitted that he shot Garrett Macone, 23, of Chetek.
