ST. PAUL, Minn. — Attorney General Keith Ellison joined a multi-state legal action against the U-S Postal Service for drastic operational changes that they claim could undermine the November national election. Ellison, a Democrat, said the changes, all in recent weeks, have been political. The Republican President Trump, he said, knows that the more people who vote, the more likely he will lose re-election. Said Ellison; “He’s trying to undermine the process.” The suit follows a massive public outcry over changes ordered by Trump’s new postmaster general, Louis DeJoy. In response DeJoy has promised to halt changes until at least after the election, but, critics note, much of the damage has already been done with mail-sorting equipment being decommissioned, drop boxes being removed, and staffing being drastically reduced.
