WINNEPEG, Manitoba — The president of the India Association of Manitoba, Ramandeep Grewal, said his group has also been trying to track down relatives of the family that froze to death trying to enter the United States from Canada during a blizzard. ‘We want to first identify who exactly these people are, because families back home will want the bodies back,” Grewal said. The province has 10,900 people of India extraction. In the last 10 years Indians comprised 17.3% of new Manitoba immigrants. Many of these Indians might be hesitant to share what they know because they’re afraid of international attention Grewal said his association wants to support the official inquiry: “It’s always a good idea to talk to investigators. It’s tragic news for all of us. It’s devastating.”
