MADISON, Wis. – The state Health Department confirmed one Wisconsin death from listeria-contaminated salad kits produced by Dole. The agency did not name victim nor say where the bad salad mix was purchased. The plastic-bagged salads had been recalled, but listeria can take 10 weeks to destroy human immune systems. There have been two deaths and 17 illnesses in 13 states.
